On the CBS serial series Guiding Light, Pelphrey played Jonathan Randall, the son of Reva Shayne and her deceased ex-husband, Richard Winslow.

In April of the following year, 2006, he received the Daytime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Younger Actor,” for which he was nominated in 2005.

In 2007, he was nominated in the same category for the third time in a row, but Bryton McClure won. In 2008, Pelphrey received his second Daytime Emmy for “Outstanding Younger Actor.”

In October 2009, Pelphrey agreed to a deal to portray “Mick” on As the World Turns. His stint came to an end in February 2010 when his villainous persona was imprisoned. For his performance as Mick Dante, Pelphrey received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

He made an appearance in the Numb3rs episode “Pandora’s Box” on March 30, 2007. He made an appearance in an episode of “Ghost Whisperer” on October 17, 2008, then in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit the following year.

For Cinemax’s action thriller Banshee in 2015, Pelphrey was cast in a recurring role as Kurt Bunker, a former Nazi who is attempting to reintegrate into society.

He played Ward Meachum in Iron Fist in 2017, and on the Netflix crime thriller Ozark’s third season, which premiered on March 27, 2020, he played Ben Davis.

Fans and journalists alike praised his performance in the latter, and the absence of an Emmy nomination was seen as a slight.

Pelphrey was nevertheless nominated for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, the Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries, or Television Film, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series (shared with the cast).

Pelphrey played Ben Davis again in a guest appearance on Ozark in the show’s final season (2022), for which he was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

He most recently played Perry Abbott in the Amazon Prime Video series Outer Range, and he’ll play Don Crowder in the forthcoming HBO Max miniseries Love and Death.
